Welcome to my site! Surprising as it sounds, there are a number of “Juan Pablo Carvallo”s out there, so these few lines should help you realize if I’m the one you’re looking for!
I am a third year graduate student in the Energy and Resources Group at the University of California, Berkeley. Since graduating as an in 2004 I’ve been working, studying, and researching different aspects of the energy field. My current interests relate to varied topics in sustainable development for less industrialized economies, with a geographical focus in Latin America and Asia. I bring together different disciplines – engineering, economics, political science, sociology – to study long term evolution of high renewable energy penetration electricity grids, alternative energy systems, and rural energy access, among others.
In this site I’ll post portions of my academic and professional production, including publications, working papers, op. eds, etc. Hope you enjoy them!
